Risng Grades 4-6 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. July 1-5 (No camp on Thursday, July 4) Monday-Wednesday, & Friday Lower School Campus $315
En garde! During the morning portion of camp, campers will focus on learning or developing their skills in fencing. Whether they have fenced before or are completely new to fencing, this camp is fun for all skill levels. We will learn the basics of footwork, attacks, and parries and slowly pair them into fencing matches based on skill level. Students will develop their own fencing style and will learn tactics and strategies to win a fencing match. We will work with all three fencing weapons, but we will concentrate on the saber. All fencing equipment will be provided.
In the afternoon, camp is designed to introduce campers to the basics of archery. In the archery sessions, campers will learn and practice all the techniques required to be a proficient and safe archer, such as: how to hold the bowstring, how to notch the arrow, and where to look to accurately aim the shot.
Please note that safety is a primary focus of the camp. All campers will clearly understand all the safety standards and procedures associated with fencing and archery.
The Fencing and Archery Camp is led by camp Director Mr. Matt Gehlhoff, a current SSSAS faculty member. Please contact Mr. Matt Gehlhoff with any camp-specefic questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
